The ranking system in Gunbound is fairly simple to understand.

Total Ranking

There are a total of 24 ranks, not including the Administrator rank.  Each rank requires a certain amount of GP to obtain it. When you start off your rank is Little Chick (Or as I would call it... Yellow Dragon).  The next 10 ranks have a set amount of GP required, you can see these requirements bellow.

The next 13 ranks are on a percentage basis and the requirements for these will change (usually increase) with each day as more people gain GP (with the exception of Metal Double Sided Axe the GP for this rank will remain at 6900 GP).

The Final Administrator rank is a rank specifically for GMs (Game Masters).

Country/Home Team Ranking

Almost all versions of Gunbound now have Country or Home Team ranking.  This is the rank that will usually be displayed first everywhere inside game besides your buddy list.  This ranking works exactly the same way as total ranking, the only difference is you are separated from others based on where you are located.  People whom live in places with less Gunbound players will usually have a higher rank than their Total Rank.

The rank displayed usually include 2 letters in the corner.  This is an abbreviation of you Country or Home Team.

Special Ranks
Talk about the Ranking system among the players usually brings up lengthy discussion and in some cases even arguments and "flaming".  Many views and opinions are expressed about likes and dislikes of the way the system is set up.

Some people have said that the "Home Team" and/or "Country" rankings take away from the value of ranks and that ranks are now "pointless" since someone with a lesser Total Rank can have a higher Home Team Rank than another person who has a higher Total Rank.

However, some people have said its a positive, that it now gives other people more reason to play. Example:  They may play more if they know they only have "2,000 GP" more till their next home team rank, whereas they may need "20,000+GP" more for that same total rank.  In other words, it gives people more incentive.

Some others enjoy this ranking because they feel that many of the Higher ranks have (in the past or present) cheated to gain a high total rank, and they can now match that rank without resorting to that sort of play.

Some are neutral, and have said "rank does not equal skill".

All of the above are examples of the many valid arguments I have heard on the subject, none however have been convincing enough to sway the minds or intentions of the developers just yet.
